지속 가능성을 향한 델타의 노력

델타항공은 사람들을 더 많은 지속 가능한 여행의 미래로 안내하는 것을 목표로 합니다. 2050년까지 항공사 운영에서 넷제로 탄소 배출을 달성하는 것이 궁극적인 목표입니다. 하지만 글로벌 항공 산업은 탄소 배출량을 줄이기 어려운 분야로, 본질적으로 탈탄소화를 이루는 것이 불가능합니다. Our multi-pronged approach to make progress toward this goal focuses on improving the efficiency of our fleet, innovating aircraft operations, and increasing the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to reduce our emissions.

AWARD-WINNING SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS
In 2024, we were named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies for scaling SAF. We were lauded at SkyTeam's 2024 Aviation Challenge for our carbon-reduction work and new onboard paper cups.
연료 사용의 변화

지속 가능한 항공 연료(SAF)는 탈탄소화 항공편에 대한 핵심 지렛대 역할을 하여 제트기 연료의 수명주기 탄소 배출을 최대 80% 감소시킵니다. We aim to procure over 400 million gallons of SAF annually by the end of 2030, supporting our goal of 10% SAF utilization. In 2024, we more than tripled SAF deliveries compared to 2023, for a total of over 13 million gallons.

보다 효율적인 항공기 확보

We focus on building our fleet to improve fuel efficiency by upgauging our planes and replacing retiring aircraft with next-gen models. Aircraft added to our fleet since 2019, including 38 delivered in 2024, are on average 28% more fuel efficient per seat mile than those they replaced. Initiatives like better flight routing, onboard efficiencies, and cutting-edge technologies saved approx. 44 million gallons of jet fuel in 2024 compared to what we would have used in 2019 without these improvements.

항공편의 미래

Launched in 2023, the Delta Sustainable Skies Lab is a first-of-its-kind airline innovation lab focusing on research, design and testing to drive progress toward our climate goals. The Lab inspires disruptive industry innovation and aims to scale new technologies and actions to help Delta reach its sustainability goals. Partners include JetZero, whose blended-wing body aircraft aims to reduce carbon emissions by up to 50% compared to today. 

BEYOND NET-ZERO

We’re eliminating millions of pounds of plastic onboard annually and incorporating more products that are recyclable onboard our aircraft, which can help us reduce our environmental impact, enhance the customer experience, and improve our operations.

Delta’s innovative partner, Joby Aviation, is developing an electric air taxi that aims to further elevate and differentiate the Delta travel experience with home-to-airport transportation in the years ahead.

Announced during Delta’s CES 2025 keynote, Delta will be a key partner with Airbus’ UpNext innovation lab; Airbus to also invest in scaling the production of sustainable aviation fuel through Minnesota SAF Hub.
